Job Description

Job title: Nuclear Safety Procedure Author
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 (DOE) + Car Allowance
Location: Faslane, Helensburgh
Hours of work: Up to 40 hours per week

Applicants must have experience of the following:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in nuclear, mechanical or chemical engineering (or related field)
  • Professional nuclear safety certificate
  • Strong working knowledge of nuclear safety regulations
  • Experience with development testing and commissioning procedures

Ideally applicants should also have:

  • Proficiency in safety analysis software
  • Experience coordinating nuclear plant modification proposals

Role information:

  • Develop detailed implementation procedures and safety process documentation
  • Ensure activities are delivered in accordance with scheduling and operational requirements
  • Ensure the timely development and acceptance of procedures
  • Ensure procedures are in line with regulatory requirements
  • Ensure procedures are understood by all relevant parties
  • Learn from near misses and develop preventative measures to mitigate future instances
  • Carry out risk assessments and analyses to identify safety issues
